This year we decided to move our vegetable garden up to the front yard where it get's more sun. We've built some raised beds using 8" untreated ledger board that we got at home depot. I dug out all the grass, but you could also just put newspaper down before you lay in the soil in order to kill all the weeds and grass.

We got 2 yards of loam and 1 yard of compost delivered.  We also mixed in our own compost from our forest pile, but needed more.  I’m going to add a little organic fertilizer to the mix and then make a plan for planting.  It’s still early and cold around here, so I still have a couple of days before I plant the cool weather veggies.  Now, I just have to figure out how to keep the bunnies out of my veggies.
